Tactile membrane switches

Tactile response is a positive snap-action, signalling that the contacts have contacted each other when you depress a key.

A tactile response to a membrane switch can be obtained in two ways:

1) Polydome tactile - embossed graphic overlay

The type nomenclatures of polydome tactile membrane switches in TT Klavesnice are TS 523 3 xxx (dia 7 mm) and TS 523 4 xxx (dia 10 mm).

2) Metal dome tactile - a snap dome embedded into a membrane switch

Obrázek 2 zobrazuje konstrukci, u které žabka zároveň slouží jako spínací prvek (při promačknutí vodivě spojuje krajní kontakt hmatníku se středním kontaktem).

Figure 2 shows a design, where the metal dome acts as a switching contact (when depressed, it electrically connects a side contact with a central one).

The graphic overlay can be embossed to your wish. A pillow emboss is applicable (a circlet, square). The same design is available without embossing the graphic overlay (see Fig. 3).

A membrane switch with a non-embossed graphic overlay requires a slightly higher actuation force compared to a switch with an embossed overlay.

Figure 4 shows a design where the metal dome serves solely to get a tactile feedback. This design is suitable for small membrane switches with matrix pinout, and a large number of keys.

The same design is available without embossing the graphic overlay (see Fig. 5). A membrane switch with a non-embossed graphic overlay requires a slightly higher actuation force compared to a switch with an embossed overlay.

The type nomenclatures of metal dome tactile membrane switches in TT Klavesnice are TS 523 6 xxx (Fig. 2 and 3) and TS 523 2 xxx (Fig. 4 and 5).
