Membrane nameplates:

Principle and application of nameplates:

membrane nameplate presentation

Membrane nameplates with graphics are bonded mostly on control panels and thus are productive of a desired appearance for the whole device. The nameplates do not include any switching components (see Fig. 1). Like membrane switches the nameplates can however be fitted with display windows and legend pockets, they can be embossed and the like.

Printmaking on membrane nameplates

On principle, membrane nameplates are manufactured of clear film. All colours are silk-printed either on the back of the film (thus the print is protected from scratching or damage), or on the front side of self-adhesive PVC films. The rear side of the nameplate is printed with pressure sensitive adhesive to bond the nameplate to a panel.

Materials used for membrane nameplates:

For printing to the rear side, the following materials are used (the same as for membrane switches):

Polyester films:

  • gloss
  • anti-glare
  • matt
  • textured

Polycarbonate films:

  • gloss
  • fine textured
  • velvet textured

For printing to the front side, PVC films (clear or coloured) or Al silver films are used.
